TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR THE
PROSTHETIC CORRECTION OF HEARING DISORDERS
Recommendation 06/2 specifies, with its minimal characteristics, the equipment necessary to hearing-aid specialists, especially for carrying out, with reproducible results, screening for prosthetic correction of hearing disorders.
It consequently lists and describes the equipment necessary
- for the choice of amplifiers and transducers which together form the hearing-aid device or system,
- for its adaptation,
- for fitting the hearing-aid,
- for checking its immediate and long-term efficacy,
- for practising the prosthetic education of the hearing-impaired person fitted.
In addition, it describes the premises to be used for the functioning
of this equipment ; their acoustic characteristics must also take into
account existing national norms and regulations.
The characteristics of premises, equipment and materials, specified below, must conform to the security, hygiene and occupational medicine directives and regulations of respective countries insofar as the minimal acoustic requirements proposed in the present recommendation are respected.
Noting that, in different countries, legal and regulatory provisions
contain stipulations which fall short of those proposed in the present
recommendation, BIAP expresses the wish that they should, within a reasonable
lapse of time, be brought into line with recommendation 06/2.
